Answers for frequently asked puzzles in Interview.

Ans 1) As you can only open the door once. So let's take 3 switches as A, B, C, and let's take bulb as X, Y, Z.So first turn on switch A for some time let's say 4-5 minutes then switch it off. Now turn on any other switch from B or C. Now enter the door and see the bulbs. The one which is on corresponds to the switch you just turn on, Now touch the bulbs, the bulb which is hot corresponds to the switch you turn on first that is A and the bulb which is cold corresponds to the switch you didn't turn on.

Ans 2) Divide gold bar into 3 parts 1 bar,2 bar, and 4 bar by making 2 cuts

day 1- Give away 1 bar
day2- Take away 1 bar and give 2 bar
day 3- Give again 1 bar (2+1=3)
day 4- Take away 1 and 2 bar and give 4 bar
day 5- Give 1 bar (4+1=5)
day 6- Take away 1 bar and give 2 bars (4+2=6)
day 7 -Give 1 bar (4+2+1=7)

Ans 3) This question is asked in an interview to check whether you can give more than one answer for one question (basically they wanted to check whether you have more than one approach for one problem I guess). So you can give different answers like pipes and tubes are round so the manhole or round manhole can be easily rotated or rolled or something like that. Remember to tell at least something instead of telling you I don't know. They will appreciate that.

Ans 4) Cut along Z-axis

Ans 5) As the bear is dropped its initial velocity will be 0 that is u=0.Now consider the equation
                 S=ut+at^2*0.5
                 a=2S/t^2
                 a=10m/secsq
Thus acceleration is g=10 which is only in the poles. South pole don't have bear so it should be North pole
and polar bears are there which are of white color.

Ans 6) (0!+0!+0!+0!+0!)!=5!=120

Ans 7) 24

Ans 8) Take 1 pill from the first 2 pills from the second and so on. Now put all the pills on scale and weight. If it is one less than expected weight then the contaminated pill is in first if it is two less than expected weight then the contaminated pill is in second and so on.

Rest two are simple physics questions I am sure everybody will be able to solve.

  1. Your answer to the gold bar doesn't make any sense.
    Day1: You give one gold bar.
    Day2: You are asking for Day1's gold bar. But what if he has already spent it?

  2. Hello, Thanks for the good question!!..This puzzle was kind of incompleted. Actually here you put one condition in front of worker that he cannot spent any of the gold bar until he is fully paid. *EDITED*

Tricky Questions or Puzzles in C ( Updated for 2026)

Updated for 2026 This article was originally written when C/C++ puzzles were commonly asked in interviews. While such language-specific puzzles are less frequent today, the problem-solving and logical reasoning skills tested here remain highly relevant for modern Software Engineering, Data Engineering, SQL, and system design interviews . Why These Puzzles Still Matter in 2026 Although most Software &   Data Engineering interviews today focus on Programming, SQL, data pipelines, cloud platforms, and system design , interviewers still care deeply about how you think . These puzzles test: Logical reasoning Edge-case handling Understanding of execution flow Ability to reason under pressure The language may change , but the thinking patterns do not . How These Skills Apply to Data Engineering Interviews The same skills tested by C/C++ puzzles appear in modern interviews as: SQL edge cases and NULL handling Data pipeline failure scenarios Incremental vs ...

Programs and Puzzles in technical interviews i faced

I have attended interview of nearly 10 companies in my campus placements and sharing their experiences with you,though i did not got selected in any of the companies but i had great experience facing their interviews and it might help you as well in preparation of interviews.Here are some of the puzzles and programs asked to me in interview in some of the good companies. 1) SAP Labs I attended sap lab online test in my college through campus placements.It had 3 sections,the first one is usual aptitude questions which i would say were little tricky to solve.The second section was Programming test in which you were provided snippet of code and you have to complete the code (See Tricky Code Snippets  ).The code are from different data structures like Binary Tree, AVL Tree etc.Then the third section had questions from Database,OS and Networks.After 2-3 hours we got the result and i was shortlisted for the nest round of interviews scheduled next day.Then the next day we had PPT of t...
